Who we are

Lexi (lexi.cx) is operated by Ortomate Ltd., 12 Jessie Street, Wellington, New Zealand (“we”, “us”). We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Questions? Email hello@lexi.cx.

Information we collect

• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication details when you sign up (via Google or a magic link).
• Knowledge base content — documents you upload or paste. This is your content; we store and index it solely to power your chat widget.
• Widget conversations — messages your visitors send to the widget, generated answers, and (when a visitor chooses to leave one) their email address for follow-up. You, the site operator, are responsible for informing your visitors about this processing.
• Billing information — processed by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
• Usage data — basic logs (timestamps, feature usage) to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

• To provide the service: indexing your docs and answering widget questions.
• To generate answers, relevant excerpts of your documents and visitor questions are sent to our AI providers (Anthropic for answers, OpenAI for embeddings). We do not permit them to use this data to train their models.
• To bill you (Stripe) and to communicate service updates.
• To keep the service secure, debug issues, and prevent abuse.

We do not sell personal information.

Storage and security

Data is stored with Supabase (Postgres) and protected with row-level security so each account's data is isolated. Data may be stored and processed outside New Zealand (including the United States) by our providers under appropriate safeguards.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Delete a site and its documents, index, and conversations are removed. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@lexi.cx — we action deletion requests within 5 working days.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. Contact us at hello@lexi.cx. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication. The widget stores an anonymous session identifier in the visitor's browser storage to keep conversations continuous; it contains no personal information.

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be notified by email.
